OUR FOUNDATION

We believe in supporting non-profit organizations and businesses that align with our values. Our foundations page features the organizations we feel complement our mission to merge Eastern and Western philosophies.

About Our Foundations:

#

At East+West, we’ve always believed in the power of yoga to create positive transformations within ourselves and the world around us. We aim to take our teacher training program and enhance it through new offerings and initiatives. One such initiative is our newly launched East+West Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting the communities where we host our events through financial donations and service projects. With this vision in mind, we’re very excited to join hands with the Ragam Foundation and other organizations to extend our reach beyond the yoga mat and into the hearts and hands of those in need.

Ragam Foundation

The Ragam Foundation, whose name translates to “diversity” in Indonesian, embodies the spirit of collective action and inclusivity. Their team works tirelessly to address key challenges faced by Indonesian communities, including access to education, clean water, and essential resources. Through their innovative initiatives and grassroots approach, the Ragam Foundation has already made a lasting impact on countless lives, inspiring hope and creating opportunities for growth.

By joining forces with the Ragam Foundation, East+West aims to leverage our platform and resources to amplify their efforts and reach even more individuals in need. Together, we will not only provide financial support but also actively engage in hands-on service projects, fostering a deeper connection between our tribe of yoga practitioners and the communities we serve.

This partnership represents a powerful fusion of purpose and passion, uniting two organizations committed to making a positive difference in the world.

Our Impactful Partnership

Through our partnership with Ragam Foundation, we are making a tangible difference in Bali and beyond. Here’s how:

Financial Support: A portion of each student’s fees is dedicated to supporting the Ragam Foundation. This contribution helps create 100 meals per student per training, amounting to approximately 25,000 meals annually.

Volunteer Engagement: We organize volunteer days with our students during their training, actively participating in creating an additional 800 meals per month. This hands-on involvement fosters a sense of community and gives back to those in need.

Highlighting Initiatives: We proudly showcase Ragam Foundation’s impactful work on our website and in our communications. By raising awareness about their education programs, clean water initiatives, and more, we inspire others to support these vital causes.

Costa Rica

Costa Rican Alliance for Sea Turtle Conservation & Science

COASTS is on a mission to prevent the extinction of sea turtles and protect their natural habitat through scientific research, data-driven conservation actions, habitat restoration, and environmental education.

At the core of our work is a passionate and dedicated team of local assistants, scientists, students, conservationists, citizen scientists, and volunteers. We pride ourselves in being able to collaborate with a diverse range of groups, combining local knowledge with applied science and engaging and activating local stakeholders, to reach our goals and fill knowledge gaps necessary for the effective protection of sea turtles.

SPECIFIC GOALS

Our specific goals are to safeguard sea turtle populations and their habitat in Costa Rica, to fill existing knowledge gaps in biology and ecology of sea turtles that could help to better protect local populations, and to engage in environmental outreach and capacity-building activities for local communities. Our activities are meant to mitigate and counteract the direct and indirect threats sea turtles face because of human activities, such as the exploitive use of adults and eggs through poaching, incidental catch by fisheries, the ingestion and entanglement as a result of ocean plastic pollution, and the effects of climate change on the clutch and hatching success, as well as sex ratios because of sea-level rise and rising temperatures due to climate change.

Scholarships

East+West Scholarship Program

East+West’s Yoga Scholarship initiative was launched in 2024 and aligns with the Yoga Alliance Standards, ensuring our training meets the highest industry benchmarks.

We offer 2 scholarship opportunities per training.  One is available only to Indonesian applicants to help support the local community in Bali and the other one is available to any international student.  The International scholarship offers a $1500 discount off our training program.

The international scholarship program was created to help expand the reach of East+West around the world and increase our impact, beyond the mat or Shala. With that in mind, this scholarship is not awarded based on financial needs, instead, it’s awarded based on how the scholarship student will use the training to give back to the world carrying the legacy of East+West forward in helping others.

If you feel your story qualifies for consideration by our team, please resubmit your application with a detailed outline of why you should be awarded the scholarship and the specific training you wish to attend to scholarships@yogaeastwest.com.  All scholarships will be awarded at least 90 days before each training session begins so apply early if you wish to be considered.
