What’s The Difference Between The 200 & 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Cert?

The 200-hour is the first, introductory certification and is a requirement to become a certified teacher.  Completing the 200-hour is necessary before a teacher can obtain their 300-hour training. The 200-hour training is generally recommended for any student practicing regularly for at least 6 months to a year. The 300-hour training is generally recommended for current teachers, who hold a 200-hour and have been teaching for at least 1 year and want to advance their practice and skills.

Yoga Alliance requires you to have completed your 200-hour training first before obtaining your 300-hour. Once you complete both a 200-hour and a 300-hour training, you’ll be certified at the 500 RYT level by Yoga Alliance.
