In Switzerland, you`ll mainly find three to six month long courses with weekend training days. If you need a more extended course and willing to dedicate a year for the course, you`ll have options too. Most of the yoga schools are offering traditional hatha and vinyasa yoga courses. To make it easier for you, we did some research on the best yoga schools you can find in Switzerland.

Sanapurna Center – Zurich

This Yoga Alliance registered, full immersion yoga teacher training lasts 9 weekends over a period of 6 months. Sanapurna Center believes that training responsible teachers and helping them discover the natural teacher from within will help thousands of students to discover the bliss of yoga.

With highly qualified and experienced trainers, the course is based on the traditional teachings of yoga, including anatomy, teaching methodology, restorative yoga as well as management and presentation skills – offering a holistic training to the students. The prerequisite of the training is to have at least 1 year of yoga exposure in total. The course requires 100% regular and punctual attendance as a mandatory requirement to receive the final certification.

Airyoga School – Zurich

This training will be taught in German AND English languages. Read on if this applies to you. The course is line with the tradition of Hatha Yoga and will be taught divided into nine modules. This program is very much focused on practical training, so you will start to practice teaching from the first week. The course is delivered using modern coaching teaching styles leading to high efficiency in learning.

The syllabus includes yoga philosophy, Hindu mythology, physiology of hatha yoga, asana teaching methodology and its corrections. There will be much focus on the personal development of the students in the first place cause this is the place where you`ll emerge as a brilliant teacher. The course will last for 4 months and you will have training days at 7 weekends. 100% attendance is mandatory in order to receive a certificate.

Imagine Academy – Zurich

This is a Kundalini Yoga Course that runs over 10 months and will prepare you to teach this technique to your students confidently. You will have 8-weekend modules and two, four day retreats in nature where you`ll come together with your teachers and course mates to leave life behind and fully focus on practice.

The main themes of modules are yogic philosophy, breathing techniques and energy locks, analysis and practice of yoga postures, body alignment and human anatomy. You will also learn a lot about the chakra system and energetics.

Attendance at all of the classes during the course, weekly practice, book reports and homework is required to receive the title of Kundalini Yoga Instructor, registered with the European Yoga Alliance.

Elemental Yoga – Zurich

This yoga teacher training adds 80 extra hours to the basic 200-hour training structure to make sure you deepen your knowledge as a future instructor. The extra 80 hours will consist of external studies like homework, reading, attendance at yoga classes, assisting yoga classes and individual mentoring by your teachers.

It is a foundational, holistic and detailed course to deepen your practice and give you the skills to teach confidently, safely and creatively. This course is integrating vinyasa flow, hatha yoga and mindfulness with modern perspectives. Group sizes are kept small so each and every participant can have individual attention throughout the course.

Stambha Yoga School – Zurich

Stambha Yoga divides the 200-hour yoga teacher training into two halves. The first 100-hours of the training is called `Yoga Immersion` and the second 100-hour is called the `Teacher Training`. Both parts consist of three long weekend modules.

In the immersion part, you will be introduced to the vast disciplines of yoga; it is an in-depth study of yoga for all levels. It is mainly about you, your yoga practice, understanding of yoga postures and breathing techniques. The teacher training part uses the information, practices and community from the immersion to develop a safe and effective atmosphere for beginning teachers.

This 200-hour Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher training will prepare you to teach yoga confidently and build a successful career anywhere in the world. The class sizes are kept small, there are only 10 participants at training so there`s going to be space for as much individual attention as students need.

Apart from the practice hours, there will be much focus on familiarizing yourselves with the yogic philosophies and lifestyle, and also with teaching methodologies, including verbal instructions, adjustments, corrections and modifications.

You`ll also learn about anatomy, the power of breath and much more. All in all, this looks like a very well structured course taught by very knowledgeable and experienced teachers.
